Fast Facts

  • The Cliff Richard Tennis Foundation is the working title of the Cliff Richard Tennis Development Trust, a registered UK charity

  • The Cliff Richard Tennis Trail ,one of the Foundation's main activities, began in 1992 and is the UK's leading grassroots tennis scheme, introducing the sport direct to children in state primary schools

  • To date over 300,000 children have been introduced to tennis through the Trail. Many live in less privileged inner city and remote rural areas and might not otherwise have had the chance to play

  • On average around 30,000 children in 200 schools benefit each year

  • In 2001, the Foundation launched the 'Kids on Court' Campaign. This is designed to expand the charity's work with children, making tennis accessible to all children in the UK, regardless of background, colour or creed. Sue Barker is President of the campaign

  • There are currently 25 children receiving grant aid. They are called Trailblazers and are playing at County standard. Four of these children are now recognised as National Standard in their age group.

  • Rover Cars supply the Foundation with vehicles for the Tennis Trail's coaching teams.

  • The proceeds from the sale of tickets to Sir Cliff's annual Christmas Cliff Richard Tennis Classic, held each year at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, help to keep the Tennis Trail on the road. This year's event will take place on Saturday 18th December

  • The 'Kids on Court' Campaign has raised over half a million pounds since its launch in June at Mosimann's Birthday Celebration for Sir Cliff. These funds are used to launch new initiatives encouraging more children to take up tennis.
