Tennis Trail

Since it was established in 1991, the Cliff Richard Tennis Foundation has gone a long way towards achieving its aim of introducing tennis to more children.

This has mainly been achieved through the Cliff Richard Tennis Trail, the UK's leading grassroots tennis initiative. The Tennis Trail has five main objectives:

The Tennis Trail

  • To take tennis directly to children in state primary schools

  • To encourage and assist the schools involved with the scheme to feature tennis on their timetable on a year round basis

  • To give athletically talented children the opportunity to become more seriously involved with tennis

  • To introduce tennis as a family sport - a sport that can be played for a lifetime

  • To promote and fund tennis development programmes for children in each area visited

The Tennis Trail targets towns, cities and remote rural areas where there is often high unemployment or a large percentage of single parents - places where the children might not ordinarily get the chance to learn about the game.

The Tennis Trail Scoreboard

Last year nearly 10,000 children were introduced to Tennis through the Trail, taking our running total since the programme begun to well over 270,000
