About the Tennis Trail

Cliff's Tennis Trail and its team of professional coaches is 'on the road' week in, week out throughout the school year. Each school receives an equipment package, and a resource pack for teachers, enabling schools to continue teaching the sport.

On average the Trail visits 10 schools in an area, bringing tennis coaching to approximately 1,500 children.

But that's not all. An extensive follow-on coaching programme, set up with the help of County and Local Tennis Development Officers, ensures that the schools visited have the necessary backup to continue offering tennis as part of the curriculum for all the children in the school.

Wherever the Cliff Richard Tennis Trail goes it links with an affordable tennis facility, to develop a relationship both with the schools and the families of the pupils. That way the Trail can really generate an on-going interest in tennis throughout the area.

News report on the Tennis
Trail visit to Basingstoke

As the Trail travels across the country, the coaches identify talented children, those with good athletic potential, hand eye co-ordination, and a competitive edge. These children are invited to start playing in a beginner squad at the local tennis facility. If their tennis skills progress quickly, the Trail helps by providing one to one coaching.
