Full list and schedule of table tennis players who will represent India at the 2021 Olympics


The 2021 Olympics got off to a good start in Tokyo, with Indian archers launching the country’s campaign today (July 23). There will be many other sporting events that India will participate in from July 24th. Table tennis is one of those sports that fans will be looking to watch out for. India has four paddlers competing for a spot on the Olympic podium.

The Indians waged a dismal campaign last time in Rio. They hope to keep this disappointment aside and put on a big show in Tokyo. Here are the Indian paddlers who will represent India at the 2021 Olympics.

# 1 Sharath kamal

Sharath Kamal has been the poster boy for Indian table tennis over the years. The 39-year-old has had a breathtaking career so far and will start his fourth Olympic campaign. Having won numerous accolades in table tennis, including four gold medals at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Kamal hopes to add Olympic glory to his name at the 2021 Olympics.

The table tennis draws for the Olympics will see Kamal face some good competition in the early stages. After a pass in the first round of the singles, he will face Tiago Apolonio in the second round.

In the mixed doubles event, Kamal and Manika Batra will face the pair of YJ Lin and IC Cheng in the round of 16. The Chinese Taipei duo are ranked 3rd in the world. Kamal and Batra will need to put on a big show if they are to have any chance of defeating their Asian counterparts.

# 2 Sathiyan Gnanasekaran

Sathiyan Gnanasekaran will make his Olympic Games debut. The Chennai resident has already made his debut in the ITTF Top 25 ranking and has been splendid in recent years. He also won a Commonwealth Games gold medal and Asian Games bronze medal in addition to performing well in several other ITTF tournaments.

Sathiyan will only participate in the men’s singles event. After a bye in the first round, he will face either Brian Afanador [Puerto Rico] or Lam Siu Hang [Hong Kong] in the 2nd round of the event.

# 3 Manika Batra

Manika Batra rose to fame after winning gold at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in 2018. Recipient Khel Ratna is set to have a big Olympic campaign. Her unique playstyle will definitely be a bonus when she steps onto the pitch.

Batra will compete in mixed doubles and women’s singles at the 2021 Olympics. After facing Chinese Taipei’s Lin-Cheng duo in the mixed doubles event alongside Kamal, she will face Britain’s Tin-Tin Ho in the women’s singles. Event.

# 4 Sutirtha Mukherjee

Sutirtha Mukherjee will make her debut at the 2021 Olympics. She was part of the team that won Commonwealth Games gold in 2018. The Bengal resident has so far seen big changes in her tennis career from table.

Sutirtha has already beaten top ranked players Petrissa Solja and Cheng I-ching in the Ultimate Table Tennis competition. She qualified for the Olympics after beating compatriot and ace paddler Manika Batra in the Olympic qualifiers in Asia.

Sutirtha will face Sweden’s Linda Bergstrom in the first round of the women’s singles.
