The Cliff Richard Tennis Foundation has recently launched a new children's tennis initiative - the Tennis Bounceathon, designed to get more kids hitting tennis balls, whilst also raising money for charity.

It's all about bouncing! Bounceathon is a new competition open to schools and tennis clubs throughout the UK.

Everyone who takes part will obtain sponsors who contribute a nominated amount for each successful bounce they achieve. Some of the sponsorship money raised will go to charity, the remainder will go to the school or tennis club - money that can be used to buy new sports equipment.

How would you like to take part in a national tennis competition, whilst also raising money for charity and your school or tennis club?

If you are interested in tennis this could be a perfect way for you to get involved with the game. By taking part in the Bounceathon you will develop excellent hand/eye co-ordination and physical skills. As well as being a fun introduction to the sport, Bouncethon can provide a way for you to join Mini Tennis - the LTA programme which is the entry level into the sport.

Sounds like fun? It is!

Bounceathon could provide you and School or club with an exciting opportunity. Apart from a being a fun introduction to tennis, the school/club that collects the highest number of sponsors in relation to the number of childen participating, will be invited to Wimbledon in 2003. Travel to Wimbledon for the winning school and club will be provided free of charge by Newmarket Promotions.

Furthermore, all school and clubs entering the Bounceathon will be eligible to win a package of Slazenger Mini Tennis equipment and a throw-down Mini Tennis court, donated by the LTA.

If you like the sound of the Bounceathon, you need to pass the details to your teacher or tennis coach. To enter the competition, they must visit the Bounceathon website and complete the online regsitration form. We will then send out an information pack and illustrated exercise guide, which they will use to help you prepare for the competion.
