Excitement is now building for the Tennis Classic 2004 which is now just a month away on the 18th of December 2004.
We've had a lot of enquiries about the line-up for the event so here's a sneak preview of who you can expect to see at this year's show. This year sees the return of some familiar faces, plus appearances from some new ones too!
The Team Captains
As always, Cliff will be the captain of one team, while one of his show business friends will captain the other. This year we will be joined by Bradley Walsh.
Once best known as a professional footballer with Brentford, Bradley has now become a household name on a different playing field. After being named 'Top TV Personality Of The Year' by the Comic Heritage Awards, Bradley has been on national television non-stop. He injected his own brand of anarchy into The Wheel Of Fortune whilst hosting the show for ITV. However, the BBC were so impressed with Bradley's style that they snapped him up to present the National Lottery

The Tennis Players
As you have come to expect, the Tennis Classic always features truly world-class tennis players and our guest list for the 2004 Tennis Classic reads like the who's who of British Tennis!
 |
This year we are delighted to welcome back a true tennis legend who has become a regular supporter of the Tennis Foundation. Virginia Wade was ranked the number 1 player in Great Britain for 10 consecutive years and ranked in the World Top 10, continuously from 1967 to 1979. As many will remember, it was in 1977 that Virginia won the singles title at Wimbledon, the last British player to win the Championships.
|
| Another return visitor to the Tennis Classic this year and is Annabel Croft. Anablel learned to play tennis at the age of nine, and by 15 was the youngest Briton to play at Wimbledon for nearly 100 years, establishing herself as Britain's Number One women's player at the age of 21. |

We're also looking forward to welcoming Andrew Castle back to the Tennis Classic. Another former British No.1, Andrew competed on the world stage as part of the Davis and European cup teams and was a member of the Olympic team in Seoul in 1988 and Barcelona in 1992. He retired from the game in 1992 and is now a presenter on GMTV and a regular commentator at the Wimbledon Championships. |
Joining Virgina, Anabel and Andrew this year you can also expect to see Jeremy Bates, John Lloyd, and Mark Cox , all former No.1 players. With such a fine array of talent on board we can be sure of some truly exciting tennis action at this year's event.
