In June 1999, 30 of our Trailblazers were invited to participate in their own special tournament during the Direct Line International Ladies Championship at Eastbourne. The tournament was organised in mixed round robin groups with the quarter and semi finals being played out on the famous grass courts of Devonshire Park. The tournament gave them the opportunity to put their skills to the test and the big smiles were proof that everyone enjoyed the event.

The Trailblazers are a proud testament to the work carried out by the Tennis Foundation. Within just a couple of years of being spotted by our coaches on the Tennis Trail, most are now competing at County level. This year, with even more Trailblazers on our programme, we hope to repeat the tournament and we are currently looking for a venue. Watch this space for further news.
