Mini Tennis may well be a sport for little people but there's nothing small about the impact it's having on tennis in this country.

Mini Tennis is exactly what the name suggests the game of tennis modified for younger or inexperienced players, in which all the skills and tactics of the real game can be learned and used.

Mini Tennis works by offering three colour-coded stages, red, orange and green - following the sequence of traffic lights - and each stage uses courts, rackets and types of ball that are right for children. A child can graduate from red to orange to green as they get better, ensuring that they are always playing at a level that feels comfortable for them.

The LTA has recruited over 500 clubs nationwide to the Mini Tennis programme in the first year. There is also Mini Tennis Coach within each county who works with the clubs to ensure that children taking part have a very enjoyable and educational experience.

Our new Bounceathon competition is being run in support of the Mini Tennis Programme. Talented children who show a natural aptitude will have the opportunity to join Mini Tennis at one of the 500 nationwide clubs.
